CADAQUÉS

CADAQUÉS

Cadaqués is located in the Natural Park of Cap de Creus. This typical Mediterranean town remained practically isolated from the continent until the end of the 19th century, as its only point of entry was through the sea. From the old fortified city, there still remains a bulwark and a low arch portal that overlooks the beach. The Church of Santa Maria (16th - 18th century) is one of its characteristic buildings. The relationship of Cadaqués with art started out with the residence in Portlligat of Figueres-born surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, between 1930 and 1982.
